Adım adım kullanım
Her rehber bir işi baştan sona anlatır. "Uygulamada aç" bağlantısı ilgili modu ve aracı doğrudan açar.
Ekranı tanıyın
Otomatik proje
Alan, çevre, kot, eğim sınıfları ve bakı; renkli kısıt haritası (koruma alanı, su, sulak alan, orman, dik eğim, bina, yol, demiryolu, enerji hattı, havalimanı — her biri proje tipinin tampon mesafesiyle); brüt → çevresel → arazi → çekme mesafeleri → potansiyel geliştirilebilir alan.
- Boru hattı güzergâhını çıkarın (A→B, Excel'den veya elle çizerek).
existing_plants).
WAI raporu

WAI Brain (W-ENG Map)

Step-by-step guide
Each guide walks through one job from start to finish. "Open in the app" opens the right mode and tool directly.
Know the screen
Auto project
- Select a point on the map or type coordinates.
- Options: one click to the end or guided (two confirmations: candidate area, technology / MW); consider grid capacity on/off; search radius, MW cap, technology preference; optionally the construction plan.
- WaiMAP runs: solar and wind resource → grid → constraints → candidate areas → technology (rule: PV ≥ 1200 kWh/kWp, wind CF ≥ 25 %) → capacity = min(land, grid, your cap) → layout → finance. Construction adds earthworks, access from the nearest road and a programme.
- The result ends with an assumptions and sources table: each number is marked as measured, public data or assumption.
Project drawing (mini CAD)
- Choose the element: project area, site boundary, exclusion, laydown, camp, building; PV area, substation, BESS, turbine; power line, tower, MV cable, road; pipeline, flowline, well, well pad, facility (CPF / GOSP), tank, valve, pump, flare.
- Choose how to draw: mouse (snaps to existing vertices), coordinates (one vertex per line: degrees, DMS, UTM "37N 674775 4565165", TM3) or distance@bearing ("800@90, 600@45"). Rectangle and circle templates (camp, substation, tank…) are placed to size with one click; width, length and rotation can be changed.
- Select an element in the list: name and attributes (kV, diameter, fluid…), edit vertices (snapping to other drawings), rotate by angle or with the mouse, scale, move / copy, split a line, reverse it, cut a part off an area, merge two areas, change the type, buffer, parallel offset, towers / valves every N metres along a line, grid in an area.
- "Bring drawings and data into the project": what you drew and the DXF / SHP / KML files in My data become project elements (type guessed from the DXF layer name), usable as routes, sites, exclusions or parcels.
- Lines can be evaluated as a route (towers, crossings, quantities); areas can be used as the plant site in the designer.
- Export DXF (UTM or TM3, one layer per type), KML, GeoJSON. Drawings are saved and shared with the project.
Land → plant capacity
- Select the point on the map (sun and wind data come from there). Enter the land: m², dönüm, ha, km² or acre. Tick "net" if setbacks are already out.
- Choose PV, wind or "Compare all"; BESS as a share of the plant power (25 / 50 / 100 %) for 1, 2 or 4 hours. If the grid search was run, export is capped at the grid capacity.
- Wind: every turbine in the catalogue (generic classes and your own power curves) is run on ERA5 at its hub height. The number that fits the land (7D × 4D, tip-height setback to the boundary) × energy decides, and the IEC class must suit the hub-height mean wind.
- PV: MWp from the usable area, GCR and the module; energy from PVGIS. BESS land is taken out of the PV area.
- The table compares PV, PV + BESS, wind, wind + BESS and PV + wind (+ BESS): MWp, MW, MWh, export MW, annual GWh. "Design on map" creates a site of that size and runs the designer for the exact layout; then energy yield and finance.
Power line / pipeline routing
- Enter A and B (coordinates, place names or pick on the map). For a plant connection use "Plant substation → nearest grid substation".
- Type: 34.5 / 66 / 154 / 220 / 380 kV line (1–2 circuits) or pipeline. Options to avoid protected areas and to parallel existing lines.
- WaiMAP builds a cost surface from slope, settlements, forest, water, protected areas and crossings and returns 3 least-cost alternatives.
- Compare: length, towers by type, road / rail / river / line crossings, forest and protected km, steep sections, conductor and earthwire km, insulator strings, foundations, right-of-way. Pipelines: HDD crossings and block valves.
- Download GeoJSON and the tower list (CSV); "To profile / tools" gives the elevation profile.
- W-ENG check under the results: conductor selection for the MW you enter (IEEE 738), then sag and ground clearance over the route's spans (attachment height and required clearance are yours); for pipelines the wall thickness (ASME B31.8 / B31.4) from the hydraulics diameter and MAOP. No AI credit needed.
Project types, assumptions and simulation
- Project type: every mode has sub-categories. Energy: solar, wind, hybrid, BESS, transmission line, substation; hydro / dams and thermal soon. Construction: site, industrial zone, pipeline; railway and highway soon. The type sets the numbered steps, the satellite base map and the tool settings. "General" returns to the classic flow.
- Drawing → engineering object: when you finish an area, line or point WaiMAP asks "What is this?". The drawing becomes a project element of that type, the mode and project type are set, and the next step ("Design the layout", "Evaluate the route"…) runs in one click.
- Assumptions: "WAI project report" first opens the assumptions window: design, finance, routing, ground and parcel assumptions. Change them, "Apply and recalculate" to see the key results, then "Build the final report". The report gets a "Confirmed assumptions" section; changed values show the old value.
- Simulation: the ▶ button in the mode title or "Watch the simulation" on a project type card. WAI runs every step on a sample site with captions; pause, speed up, spoken narration. "Record a video" saves this tab as .webm for training. The test log (JSON) lists each step's time and checks. Admins can "Test all".
- Area labels: drawn and CAD areas show their name and size (ha / m²) on the map; lines show their length.
Excel templates, BoQ and branding
- 15 templates by mode: Explore (candidate sites), Energy (solar, wind, hybrid, BESS, transmission line, substation), Construction (building / facility, industrial, pipeline, road / railway), Real estate (parcels), Logistics (stops and loads), and the common points / lines / areas and unit-price workbooks.
- Choose before downloading: coordinate format (decimal degrees, DMS, UTM, TM 3°, any EPSG) and datum, unit set (metric, imperial, Turkey with dönüm and TRY, Europe with EUR) or each unit separately, language (EN / TR), example rows, and whether to fill it with this project's assets or BoQ.
- Every workbook: a cover (WaiMAP or your company signature and logo, project fields, settings, template ID and checksum), README, data sheets with the unit of every column, drop-down lists, range checks, grey example rows, and a hidden sheet that lets WaiMAP recognise it.
- BoQ: standard item codes per discipline (PV, BESS, wind, transmission line, substation incl. GIS / AIS bays, pipeline EP items, road / rail, building). Enter quantity, unit rate, currency and price date; amounts and USD amounts are formulas, the Summary sheet totals by section and cost type. Each item carries its cost type (equipment, material, labour, logistics…) and index driver (LME copper / aluminium, steel, fuel, lithium, labour, freight) for later price updates.
- Load it back: WaiMAP converts the units and coordinates, adds the assets with their IDs, applies the inputs (designer, finance, substation / pipeline detail parameters) and keeps the BoQ with the project. Rejected rows are listed with the reason. "Use as CAPEX" writes the BoQ total into the feasibility model; "My prices" fills missing rates from your unit-price workbook.
- Exchange rates: base currency USD; ECB reference rates (daily) or dated fallback rates, shown on the Rates sheet and in the report.
- Contribute to WAI: sends only priced items (code, description, unit, quantity, rate, currency, date, cost type, driver, country) after you accept the data usage notice — never names, notes, coordinates or the file. You can withdraw a contribution.
- Project reserve: in WaiSpace, keep files for later and "Add to project" when needed; templates are recognised automatically.
- Report branding: logo, company name, address, colours, header / footer, client logo and title-block names (drawn / checked / approved). Company branding needs the Company or Enterprise plan; title-block names are open to everyone. Used on the WAI report, PDF map sheets, detail drawings and Excel covers.
WAI reference prices, price movements and suppliers
- Reference ranges: every BoQ item is compared with the WAI range for its item code and unit (country → region → global): P10 / P50 / P90 in USD of today, built from at least 3 independent sources. Your rate shows as low, typical or high. Raw records of other users are never shown.
- Fill missing with WAI P50: items without a rate get the typical value, marked "WAI reference".
- Update prices to today: each rate is converted to USD at its price month (ECB monthly rates) and escalated with the index of its driver (copper, aluminium, steel, cement, fuel, freight, labour; lithium / PV modules follow US CPI until a free index exists).
- Price movements: chart (rebased to 100) and 1 / 3 / 5-year changes for materials, labour, logistics, inflation and exchange rates; CSV download; the report gets the same chart.
- Supplier portal: manufacturers register (admin approval), upload price lists with the 'Unit prices' template and choose a licence per item: public (listed with price), WAI analysis only (never listed), authorised users (price on request).
Progress payments (monthly certificates) and final edit of reports
- New certificate: needs a BoQ in the project. Each certificate covers a period; the previous quantities come from the approved certificates before it.
- Measure: per item code choose how the quantity is measured — part of a project asset (e.g. 50 % of a line = conductor strung), a count of assets by type and status (built towers), a line or area drawn on the map, a volume from the terrain surface, or a laser scan (LAS 1.0–1.4 from Leica / Trimble / Faro / drone photogrammetry exports; LAZ / E57 must be converted to LAS first). A scan is compared with a level or with an earlier scan; excavation items take the cut volume, fill / embankment / ballast items the fill volume. Every quantity keeps its evidence (method, asset IDs, scan name, area).
- Figures: this period, previous and cumulative amounts per item, % complete, price adjustment by index (optional, with the fixed part b), retention, advance recovery, VAT and withholding, amount payable. Items in other currencies are converted with the ECB rates. Overruns of the BoQ quantity are warned.
- Approval: prepare → check → approve, each with a name and time. A change after "check" reopens the certificate. An approved certificate is locked.
- Output: Excel (Summary, Certificate, Measurements) kept in WaiSpace, PDF print, and a "Progress certificates" section in the report. Certificates are saved with the project.
- Final edit of a report: in the report window press "Final edit", change text or numbers, then "Save revision". WaiMAP compares the edit with the generated report, adds a revision log (rev B, C…) with the changed sections, flags figures typed by hand that do not come from a calculation, records the revision in the calculation register and keeps the file in WaiSpace.
Technical design of lines and pipelines (technical first)
- Draw the route with CAD (transmission line or pipeline). Choose voltage and circuits, conductor (ASTM / BS data; single-source special conductors are flagged), bundle, soil class, ice zone, wind and the ground clearance (typical value by voltage, change it to your national rule).
- Engineering route check (on by default): the ground profile from the DEM (25 m), crossings of roads, railways, rivers, power lines and pipelines from OpenStreetMap with their chainage, settlement / water / protected lengths and slope.
- Tower spotting on the profile: towers at every angle point (suspension, angle 30° / 60°, dead-end by deflection), tension sections, the longest span that keeps the clearance at maximum sag (hot conductor or ice) over ground and crossings (+ extra clearance at roads, railways, rivers, lines), body extensions where needed, no tower on a crossing. The profile shows ground, towers and the lowest conductor; spans with the smallest clearance are listed.
- Quantities: tower steel by family (your tower schedule if loaded, else typical weights), conductor and earth wire / OPGW, insulator sets, foundations by soil (pad & chimney, piles, rock anchors) and soil improvement. "Place towers in the project" adds them as assets (type and weight in the name); "Write to BoQ" fills the bill of quantities.
- Pipeline: fluid (gas, hydrogen, CO₂, crude, products, water), MAOP, API 5L grade, location class → wall thickness (ASME B31.8 / B31.4 / B31.12), D/t, flange class, cover depth (code, national, frost), trench, HDD / bored crossings, block valves, hydraulics on the real profile (compressor / pump stations and power), pig traps.
- Budget estimate per region (Türkiye, Europe, US, Middle East, Africa, Asia, CIS, Latin America): P10 / P50 / P90 per km (WAI reference ranges when published, else labelled indicative defaults) and a bottom-up estimate from the quantities. The report puts the technical design before the BoQ and finance.
- Engineering library: download the template, fill in the project tower schedule and special conductors, load it back (xlsx / csv); it is kept with the project and in WaiSpace.
Directions
- Type the start and the destination (address or "lat, lng"), pick them on the map or use the selected point. Add up to 10 stops, move them up / down, reverse the trip.
- Choose car, truck (Logistics plan), walking or bicycle, and what to avoid (tolls, motorways, ferries). For two points you get alternatives; drag a pin to change the route.
- The panel shows distance, time, arrival time, ascent / descent and the turn-by-turn list per leg (click a step to zoom).
- Detailed route report: summary, map, stops, legs, elevation profile, main roads and turn by turn — print or save as PDF; it is kept in WaiSpace. Export GPX, KML, GeoJSON or CSV, or add the route to the project as a road.
- GO — trip conditions: set the departure date and time (empty = now; any later date) and the waiting time at each stop. WaiMAP works out when you pass each point of the route and checks the hourly weather for that time (temperature, rain, snow, wind gusts, visibility), steep sections from the elevation profile, mountain sections in the cold, night driving and low sun, ferries and — for trucks — the driver breaks (45 min after 4.5 h, 11 h rest after 9 h). The result is a list of risks with km and time, coloured points on the map, a score and a verdict: GO, go with caution or consider another time. The check runs by itself after each route; press GO after changing the time.
- Compare departure times scores the same route leaving 0, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 and 24 hours later and marks the best one ★. Forecasts reach 16 days ahead; further dates are flagged to check again later. Everything goes into the route report ("Trip conditions").
Observe (Wai Observes)
- Make your own site an observation area: a CAD area, a drawing or 1 km around the selected point, with a buffer.
- Take a reference, then Check now: changes in OpenStreetMap (buildings, roads, power lines, construction, industrial / quarry / landfill), earthquakes since the reference (USGS) and active fires (NASA FIRMS, with a key) become alerts (high / medium / info).
- Verify or dismiss every alert. Drone orthophoto date comparison is in "Drone orthophotos". Areas and alerts are saved with the project and go into the report.
Observations workspace
- Samples (everyone): one ready example per item — urban growth, historical map vs today, construction design vs as-built, O&M line corridor and PV field, environmental vegetation loss, disaster & infrastructure (civil). Each opens on the map with a three-step "try it" guide; the data is labelled "Demonstration data (synthetic)" (urban growth uses the real GHS-BUILT-S epochs when the calculation server has them).
- Time-line & compare: every source of the project with date, resolution and licence (base maps, OpenHistoricalMap, admin historical XYZ, georeferenced images, drone orthophotos, GHS-BUILT-S epochs, point clouds, CAD / design). Pick A and B → Swipe (drag the divider or use ← →), Blend (opacity of B) or Side by side (two synced maps). Notes at the map centre or as a drawn area are saved with the project.
- Analyse: change detection between two images (NDVI / NDWI / NDBI when the bands exist, otherwise brightness and texture; Otsu threshold, morphology, change polygons with class, area, confidence and a needs verification flag); urban growth (built-up km² per epoch, growth per decade, centroid shift and 16-sector rose, new patches, density classes, open-land-converted proxy); design vs as-built (cut / fill, progress per element, deviation map, S-curve with SPI and days late); line corridors (vegetation within the clearance distance per span) and PV tables (robust z-score) with work orders (Excel).
- Review: accept, reject or reclassify every change (reviewer and time are stored with the project). Only accepted or reclassified changes go into the report.
- Alerts & report: alert rules per project, evaluated on demand (scheduled checks and e-mail: coming); the Observations report (cover OB) with area, sources, before / after, the accepted changes, measures, charts, confidence notes and limitations.
CSP engine (concentrated solar) and multi-site search
- Multi-site search: select a centre point and press "Multi-site search (30 km)": candidates on a grid are scored by DNI (PVGIS), terrain slope (DEM) and distance to reference CSP plants. Click a row to select the site.
- CSP design: central tower (molten salt) or parabolic trough, net MW, storage hours, solar multiple (automatic from the storage), dry or wet cooling, PV MWp and BESS MW / MWh. The DNI at the point comes from PVGIS.
- Result: mirror / aperture area, heliostats or loops, receiver and tower height, molten-salt storage (MWhth, tonnes of salt, tank pairs and diameter), steam turbine units, land, water, net energy and capacity factor (with dumped energy), indicative CAPEX by component and LCOE, checks (DNI, slope, cooling, solar multiple) and the most similar reference plants.
- "Place in the project" adds the heliostat field(s) and towers (or the trough field), power block, hot / cold salt tanks, substation, PV and BESS as assets. "Save to knowledge" keeps the design in WaiMAPData.
Engineering knowledge (WaiMAPData)
- The built-in library holds public reference projects (CSP, large PV, BESS) with their key figures and approximate locations — verify figures against the sources.
- Search by text and domain, or list similar projects near the selected point. Brain uses the same library (similar projects, knowledge search).
- Add your own records (component, rule, reference, validation) with parameters and sources, or "Save designs" to keep the session's TL, pipeline and CSP designs. Records are private to your account.
- "Share with WAI" copies one record to the WAI data room only after you tick the consent box; you can withdraw it.
WAI Convert for WaiMAP
- Choose the project folder (or files) and write what you want, e.g. "make a CSP + PV project from these files".
- Known formats are imported directly: WaiMAP Excel templates and BoQ, Excel / CSV with coordinates, KML / KMZ, GeoJSON, Shapefile, GPX, DXF, LAS scans. Text, notes and PDF text go to WAI, which returns the project type, figures with their source file and sites.
- The conversion log shows every file and what it became; WAI figures are marked "WAI conversion" in the calculation register. Nothing is saved until you press "Accept and save"; "Discard" removes what the conversion added.
Hydrogen engine (green H₂)
- Enter PV MWp and wind MW (or "Use the project design"), wind capacity factor, electrolyser technology (PEM, alkaline, SOEC), optional BESS and grid top-up, storage pressure, water source and how the hydrogen is taken (constant customer or following production with buffer days).
- Where to put the H₂ plant? scores candidates around the renewable plant by distance to water, a substation, industrial demand (industrial areas and known demand hubs), the renewable plant and main roads (OpenStreetMap). Click a row to select the site.
- H₂ design runs an hourly year (solar from PVGIS monthly yield, synthetic wind at the capacity factor) and sizes the electrolyser for the lowest LCOH (curve shown). Results: H₂ t/y, full-load hours, curtailment, storage need (tanks or salt cavern, Seveso III check), compression, water, oxygen, indicative CAPEX and LCOH, checks (utilisation, EU renewable-origin rules with grid power, water).
- "Place in the project" adds the electrolyser hall, compression, storage tanks, water treatment, substation and a safety zone. "Scenarios" compares electrolyser sizes with and without BESS.
Scenarios, CSP hourly year, ArcGIS layers, Mapbox
- Scenarios (CSP and H₂ panels): runs the current design over a set of variants (CSP storage 6–15 h × tower / trough; H₂ electrolyser size × BESS) and ranks them by levelised cost.
- CSP hourly year: the CSP design now also runs 8,760 hours (DNI shape scaled to the PVGIS monthly DNI, storage dispatch): operating and night hours, starts and a monthly chart; the tower design shows the heliostat field rings.
- ArcGIS layers (public): paste a council / utility / agency ArcGIS link (web map, Experience Builder app, service or layer) → its layers; add one to see the features in the view (refreshes as you move), filter (e.g.
STATUS = 'Approved'), group by a field, copy to My data. Only public layers; the owner's terms and copyright apply. - Mapbox (admin → API keys → Mapbox public token): adds Mapbox Satellite Streets, Outdoors and Light base maps, and a "traffic" option for car directions.
CAD+ (undo, dimensions, COGO, arrays, layers)
Construction → Mini CAD → CAD+.
- Undo / Redo (also Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y): every command (draw, move, array, COGO, delete) is one step.
- Dimensions: segment lengths, bearings and area / perimeter on the map; with dimensions on, the DXF export gets a
DIMENSIONSlayer. - COGO: pick a start point, then type one leg per line —
N45°30'E 120.5(quadrant bearing, metres) oraz 45.5 120(azimuth). The closure error is shown; a closed element is closed when the error is below 0.5 m. - Arrays: select an element, then rectangular (rows × columns, spacing) or polar (count, radius).
- Layers: show / hide each element type; hidden types are left out of the view only.
WAI Brain can use the same tools (cad_tools).
Revisions (multi-select, undo, Rev A / B / C, compare)
- Multi-select: Shift / Ctrl + click elements in the list or on the map, All of this type, or the box button and drag a rectangle on the map. The toolbar shows how many are selected.
- Group operations on the selection: move by dx / dy metres, by bearing + distance or by dragging (press on a selected element and drag); rotate by an angle around the selection centre or a picked point; scale; duplicate (offset copies get new ids); change type (same geometry kind) or layer; delete. Points move as points, lines and areas keep their shape, ids and attributes.
- Undo / Redo: the toolbar arrows or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y (Ctrl+Shift+Z) while the drawing panel is open and the cursor is not in a text field. Every command is one step (100 steps); the history starts again when another project is opened.
- Save revision: Revisions → note (optional) → Save revision A, then B, C … (time and your name when signed in). Revisions are stored with the project when you save it, copied with a project copy, and listed in the project workspace history. Restore a revision (it can be undone) or delete it. Pro and above keep 20 revisions (the oldest is dropped with a warning); Personal keeps 3.
- Compare (Pro and above): pick two revisions, or a revision and the current drawing. Added elements are green, removed red (dashed), moved or reshaped amber with the old geometry as a faint ghost (displacement in m for points, largest deviation for lines and areas), attribute-only changes blue; unchanged elements are hidden unless you tick Show unchanged. The summary gives counts per change and per element type and the length / area change; click a row to zoom to the element. Export comparison writes an Excel file (a sheet per change class); Report renders the comparison section with the report engine.
Image georeference (plans and photos on the map)
- Load image: JPG, PNG or WebP. The image is downscaled in the browser (longest side up to 2,048 px, at most 1.5 MB) and first placed roughly in the current view. PDF pages are not read — export the page as an image first.
- Control points: press Add control point, click the point on the image in the panel, then the same point on the map (building corners, road junctions, survey marks). Three points give an exact affine fit (scale, rotation, shear, offset); with four or more the fit is a least-squares solution and every point shows its residual in metres together with the RMS, the scale (cm / px) and the rotation. Remove a bad point with ✕.
- Opacity slider, show / hide and zoom per image; Personal keeps 2 images per project, Pro and above 5.
- Draw an area / Measure a line on top of the image: the area (m² / ha) and perimeter or the length are shown and the shape is added to the project drawing (mini CAD on Pro and above).
- Save the project to keep the images: the downscaled copy, the control points and the opacity are stored inside the project and come back when it is opened. The original file stays on your device.
Project 3D
- Your project objects as 3D models at real dimensions: lattice towers (body height and class from the line mechanics design, base width, crossarms, insulator strings, earth-wire peak) with conductors and earth wires as catenaries (the same sag maths as Line routing & mechanics), wind turbines (hub height, rotor diameter), PV tables (tilt, slant width, pitch, rows — filled into PV areas or taken from the Project Designer), substations with transformers, inverter and BESS containers, buildings (floors × floor height), pipes at their burial depth, roads, pads and earthworks platforms. Missing dimensions use typical values.
- Set them in the drawing: a building's
floors/floor_h, a pipeline'sdn_mm/cover_m, a PV area'stilt_deg,pitch_m,slant_m,table_m, a turbine'shub_m/rotor_m. - Point cloud from Point cloud & survey: shown decimated (up to 500,000 points), coloured by classification or elevation; its ground points also shape the ground surface.
- Ground: opacity slider and See underground to look at buried pipes. The view needs no map or terrain tiles; elevations are relative to the datum shown in the panel.
- Section (Team+): click two points on the plan → vertical section with the ground, every object the line crosses, conductors (height above ground), pipes (DN and cover) and dimensions; Auto section runs along the line. Export as SVG or PNG.
- Clearances (Team+): conductor segments green / amber / red (ok / warning below max(1 m, 15 % of the required clearance) / violation) with one label per span, plus LiDAR clearance violations. Stress overlay (Team+) colours objects by the stress-test utilisation.
- Measure two points (an object top snaps within 6 m), camera presets (plan, isometric, side, along the line), Screenshot PNG and a report (cover code 3D) with the view and the section.
- Large projects: up to 50,000 PV tables (instanced) and 500,000 points; closing the view frees the memory. Without WebGL the panel says "3D needs WebGL" — the section, clearance list and report still work.
Engineering cockpit
- One screen for the project: it collects the results already computed — solar, wind, BESS, hydropower and energy hub reports, electrical studies, line mechanics, terrain and mass haul, stress test and dynamics, Data Trust, Bankability, revisions and issued reports. Nothing is typed in by hand.
- KPI tiles: capacity (MWp, MW, MWh, km, kV), annual energy, specific yield or capacity factor, CAPEX, LCOE / LCOS, IRR / NPV / DSCR in the view of your account type, Data Trust score, weak links and the report level of your plan. Each tile names its source module and time; Stale means the module inputs changed after the result (or a check such as Data Trust ran before a newer result).
- Status matrix: discipline × check (study run, design criteria, up to date, evidence) → Pass / Watch / Fail / Not run, with the rule in the tooltip; Open takes you to the module.
- What to do next: failed criteria first, then stale results, low-trust inputs, missing studies, watch items and evidence gaps — each with the rule that ranked it.
- Analytical views: PV loss waterfall, monthly energy with the P90 band, cash flow with the cumulative line, tornado and spider (every bar is a run of the finance model on the report's own inputs), duration curves (PV power, BESS state of charge), wind rose and Weibull fit. Each chart has a data table; colours are colour-blind safe and readable in every theme.
- Monte Carlo (Pro and above): seeded, up to 5,000 draws of the finance model with editable ranges for energy (σ from the report's uncertainty), CAPEX, price and OPEX → P50 / P75 / P90 of energy, NPV and IRR, histogram and exceedance curve. P90 is the value exceeded with 90 % probability.
- Calc sheet for any tile: method, formula, standard, inputs with unit, source and confidence, result, version — export to Excel; the Project status report (PDF / Word / HTML, cover code CK) carries the tiles, matrix, next steps, charts and calc sheets.
- Results resting on typical values (for example the stress test) are labelled Screening.
WAI assistant as an advisor (V3.46)
- The assistant follows one advisor charter: it behaves like an experienced advisor, points to WAI / WHT services that help, always gives at least two alternatives with their trade-offs, stays within the law and ethics, says when a qualified professional must confirm (legal, safety, financial, privacy) and never invents facts or numbers — numbers come from WaiMAP's engines.
- Your contacts and meetings stay in your own WAI account (My Circle in WAI). When you ask a question, the assistant may use a short context from your own circle for that one answer; WaiMAP keeps none of it. What WAI may read is set in WAI › My Circle › App access. There is no circle screen in WaiMAP.
- Admin: the WaiMAP admin page has a Circle tab — the owner's own circle read-only, anonymous usage counts and an advisor playground that shows the context, the charter, the assembled prompt and the answer. Until WAI enables admin read access the tab says "Waiting for WAI to enable admin read access".
Stress test & weak links
- Screening level: typical values; a design by a qualified engineer follows. Nothing here is a certified design.
- Regional hazards for the project area: 50-year gust, 100-year 1-day rain, snow, freezing index and icing from 30 years of ERA5; earthquakes (USGS), river discharge (GloFAS) and soil (SoilGrids). With the flood atlas on the calculation server every element gets its own 100-year flood depth (JRC / Copernicus, ≈ 250 m, 3 × 3 maximum): > 0 m watch, > 0.5 m fail for electrical equipment without elevation (V3.43). Enter the PGA from your national hazard map and pick the ground class (EC8 A–E); WaiMAP does not take PGA from non-commercial hazard models. The sources and the date are listed under the table.
- Elements come from the project: CAD (PV areas, turbines, towers and lines, substations, inverters, BESS, buildings, pipelines), the line mechanics design (towers, design wind and ice) and the electrical studies (N-1 loading, single points of failure).
- Each element gets a utilisation = demand / capacity against typical design limits — PV table wind and snow (EN 1991-1-4 / 1-3), turbine IEC 61400-1 class vs the extreme gust at hub height, tower / conductor IEC 60826, equipment IEEE 693 level vs PGA × S, buildings EN 1998-1 / TBDY 2018, pipes surge vs PN and burial vs frost depth, N-1 loading — with status ok (≤ 0.8), watch (≤ 1.0) or fail (> 1.0), the governing load case and the standard.
- Weak-link ranking (top 10): utilisation × (1 + criticality: single point of failure, N-1 overload, hazard flags), each with a mitigation and an indicative cost class (low / medium / high). Circles on the map go green → amber → red; click a row or a circle to zoom. Export to Excel or as a report (cover code ST).
- Engineering tools (calculation server): FEM of a typical PV table or lattice tower built from the site loads (PyNite 3D frame, EN 1993-1-1 style member check with buckling) — the deformed shape is drawn with members coloured by utilisation and the FEM result replaces the typical limit; harmonics (OpenDSS, THD per bus vs IEEE 519); surge (TSNet water hammer for a pipeline: valve closure or pump trip, maximum / minimum pressure vs PN and vapour pressure); protection grading (IEC 60255-151 inverse-time relays, CTI 0.3 s).
- Limits: first-order linear frames without connection design; harmonics in positive sequence (no triplen paths); surge without column separation; slope is not sampled here (use Ground & hazards along routes); dynamic studies are linear (no P-Δ, soil–structure interaction or nonlinear hinges) and use typical machine and soil data.
Dynamic studies
- Screening level: typical values; a design by a qualified engineer follows. Every result carries this label. PGA and ground class come from the Stress test tab (PGA from your national hazard map).
- Modal analysis of the typical lattice tower (or the last FEM model): periods, frequencies, effective modal mass per direction and the first three mode shapes as small animations.
- Response spectrum after EN 1998-1 (Type 1 / 2, behaviour factor q) or TBDY 2018 (SDS / SD1 from the AFAD map, R, D): SRSS or CQC combination, base shear and the member utilisation for gravity + earthquake.
- Time history: upload an accelerogram (CSV: time and acceleration, or one column with a fixed step; up to 20,000 samples; units g or m/s²) or use a synthetic record that matches the elastic spectrum; peak top displacement, drift and base shear.
- Wind turbine tower: hub height, diameters, wall thickness, nacelle + rotor mass and the rotor speed range → tower frequencies and a Campbell diagram against the 1P and 3P bands (± 10 % margin). A frequency inside a band is flagged as resonance; soft-stiff towers sit between the 1P and 3P zones.
- Conductors (from Line routing & mechanics, or a typical span): aeolian vibration frequency band (Strouhal) and the catenary parameter H/w against the CIGRE TB 273 limits — above the limit, vibration dampers are needed; galloping risk from the site ice level with the CIGRE TB 322 amplitude envelope against the phase spacing.
- Power-system dynamics: a three-phase fault at a bus of the Electrical studies network (or a typical plant → grid connection), cleared after the protection time; rotor angle, frequency and voltage traces and the critical clearing time (CCT) found by bisection. ANDES runs on the calculation server (synchronous units GENROU + exciter, inverter-based units REGCA1 / REECA1); a classical model is the fallback. CCT shorter than the clearing time is a weak link.
- Foundations: pad or raft settlement (finite elements with scikit-fem, Steinbrenner and Boussinesq cross-checks, settlement contour) and bearing (EN 1997-1 Annex D) from the ground class; single-pile axial capacity (α / β method).
- Results join the weak-link ranking (resonance, seismic utilisation, CCT, settlement / bearing, aeolian, galloping). Export to Excel or as a report (cover code DY).
- Limits: linear models only (no P-Δ, soil–structure interaction or nonlinear hinges); typical machine, tower and soil data; homogeneous elastic soil layer; transient stability with a self-clearing fault (no line tripping).
Reference twin preview & edit
- Preview & edit next to Build the twin copies the source district onto the target site as a temporary, editable layer — nothing is built yet.
- Move: drag the centre handle, or type dx / dy in metres. Rotate: drag the round handle, or type an angle (clockwise). Scale: type a factor (1 = unchanged). Shapes are kept: the copy is edited in metres and the coordinates are rebuilt.
- Remove buildings: switch it on and click buildings on the map, or Box remove with two opposite corners.
- Live metrics: building count, footprint m², GFA estimate (same rules as the dossier) and street length.
- Apply builds the full twin (engineering, Excel, dossier) from the edited copy — the dossier notes the edits; Cancel discards the preview.
Discover (Explore)
Explore → Discover shows reference projects (CSP, PV, BESS, hydrogen, wind and more) on the map. Filter by domain and open a project card for key figures, sources and similar projects.
- Design one like it opens the matching engine with the reference parameters at your point.
- Ask the WHT team sends a request to WHT (your contact details only if you enter them).
- Suggest a project or a correction: name, domain, capacity, a source link and the location on the map. The WHT team reviews every suggestion before it is published as "community, reviewed".
Discover counts anonymous use (which projects are opened, how often "design one like it" is used) to improve the library; nothing is counted when your browser sends Do Not Track.
Engineering library and the WAI Engineering Standard
WaiSpace → Engineering library. Everything a dossier or report applies, with its source:
- WAI standard (WES-01): principles, stages and accuracy, combined risk assessment (hazard levels at every asset → standard / special design / relocation), calculation methods, the field protocol that confirms each result on site, and the approach compared with conventional practice. Every dossier prints it as chapter 1A.
- Standards: national rules by clause (Spain ITC-LAT 07 / ITC-LAT 06 first; generic EN 50341 otherwise): clearances at your voltage, setbacks, cable rules, design hypotheses, documents of a project. The dossier uses them for tower spotting (ground clearance and crossing extras).
- Unit rates and benchmarks (Pro): real project budgets and offers with currency, year and country, converted to USD and escalated; cost per km / MVA / MWp, cost splits, tender results.
- Catalogue, templates, reference projects, trench sections: priced towers, conductors, insulators, calculated foundations; report and BoQ templates; the R-ES-01 reference (66 kV line + cable, Spain) with "Build the validation dossier"; cable trench cross-sections with excavation per metre.
- My library: add your own country standard, unit rates (or import CSV
code;desc;unit;rate;cur;year;cc), tower types, conductors, boreholes / soil tests and client clauses. Your data is used first in every dossier.
Add project (Engineering library): upload a BoQ in xlsx or csv — the sheet, header row and columns are found automatically (English, Spanish, Turkish headings), each line gets a library code and the project summary shows the cost per km / MW / MWh / MVA. Save it to My library, share it with the WAI data room (with consent, anonymised) or, as admin, add it for everybody.
Web data (Engineering library): what the WAI Engine downloads on a schedule and where it keeps it (data folder, by category), last fetch and status; unit rates are converted with the real exchange rate of their year and escalated with the matching price index.
Grid-connection queue (Romania) — Energy → more: queued PV / BESS / wind MW per substation from the public connection lists; select a site to see the capacity already queued within 25 km.
Engineering dossier (transmission line)
Energy → more → Engineering dossier (line) (also in Construction). Builds a 100+ page dossier from the route of the HVDC link or from a CAD transmission line; every stage shows on the map while it runs.
- Route options: for each leg between control points, direct and two shifted alignments are scored on length and terrain; the best is chosen (rejected options stay grey on the map and in the report).
- Ground profile along the whole line (50 m) and an OSM corridor survey (roads, railways, rivers, power lines with voltage, pipelines, settlements, protected areas, airports) → crossings with chainage and the existing lines near or parallel to the route.
- Tower spotting on the profile: conductor at hot / ice sag, required clearance plus crossing extras, body extensions, angle and section towers → tower schedule and span table.
- Ground and natural hazards at every tower → ground class, seismic site class, foundation type from the predefined catalogue (pad & chimney, rock anchors, bored piles, driven / helical piles), special designs and relocations with the new position.
- Quantities: towers by type, foundations (concrete, excavation, rebar, piles, anchors), conductor, OPGW and earth wire, insulator strings, clamps, spacer-dampers, vibration dampers, aircraft markers, bird diverters, earthing, plates, access roads, laydown yards; telecom (splice boxes, terminal equipment).
- Sag-tension (stringing table, critical spans), construction plan by spread (foundations, erection and stringing periods, Gantt, peak workforce) and BoQ / budget.
- The report: cover, contents, 16 chapters, a satellite plan and a plan & profile drawing for every section, the full tower schedule, risk register by location, and CSV / KML appendices. Open it in a new tab or download the HTML; the admin can publish it as a sample.
Concept / feasibility level from open data and typical values; survey (LiDAR), boreholes and the supplier's tower family follow.
WaiMAP samples
WaiSpace → WaiMAP → WaiMAP samples, or Explore → more → WaiMAP samples (open to everyone, also without an account).
- Sample project reports and videos made automatically by WaiMAP's engines: Jeddah city district, Phuket resort, Almaty CHP, Whitewell → Bulgaria and Whitewell → Crete HVDC, grid digital twin (PV + BESS), Croatia wind site search, UAE CSP, France green hydrogen, Directions GO.
- View opens the report (or plays the video), Download saves it, Try it yourself opens the same tool with the example loaded — change the inputs to your own project (running a tool needs its plan).
- Each report shows the key figures, how it was made step by step, the engine's results and checks. Samples are illustrative and read-only; only the WaiMAP admin creates, replaces, hides or deletes them.
- Admin films: 🎬 previews a slow, teaching film of the example in the real app — title card, flight to the site, numbered chapters, an animated cursor and spotlight on each control, new map layers appearing one by one, key-figure counters, a scroll through the report and a closing card. 🎥 records the same film (choose "This tab"); set the pace (normal / slow / very slow) and use full screen at 1920×1080 for YouTube / LinkedIn.
Masterplan (city district / resort)
Real estate → more → Masterplan.
- Site: draw a site boundary (or project area) in CAD — the largest one is used — or select a point and give the area in hectares. Presets: Jeddah new city district and Phuket west-coast resort (illustrative).
- City: population, household size, mosques on / off, climate. The program follows common planning standards: dwellings by typology (villas, townhouses, mid-rise, high-rise), kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, clinics and a hospital, mosques, civic centres, retail and offices, parks (m² per resident), utilities, and about 25 % roads.
- Resort: keys, category, villa share, coast side, golf. Hotels and villas go to the beach after a coastal setback (30 m), F&B / spa near the centre of the beach, staff housing and back-of-house inland, the rest landscape.
- Generate masterplan: a coloured block plan on the map, the program table (ha, blocks, GFA, units), checks (does it fit, school walking distance 800 m, open space, beach frontage, setback, flood), utility demand (power peak and substations, cooling in TR with a district-cooling hint, water, wastewater, solid waste, peak-hour trips, parking, rooftop PV), indicative cost and three phases.
- Add to project puts the boundary and the zones into CAD; the report gets the plan drawing and all tables.
Typical international standards; screening level. Local zoning rules, a transport study and utility master plans follow.
Combined-cycle plant (CCGT / CHP)
Energy → more → Combined-cycle plant.
- Select the plant site and press Climate (ERA5): monthly mean temperatures and humidity of the last ten years, the 1 % hot and cold days and the elevation. Or pick the Almaty CHP preset (illustrative).
- Enter the target net output, cooling (wet tower, air-cooled condenser, once-through), evaporative inlet cooling, district heat (MWth, supplied in months below 10 °C) and the gas price. Leave the GT class empty and WaiMAP compares aeroderivative, industrial, E-, F- and H-class configurations (n gas turbines + 1 steam turbine) and picks the lowest LCOE; or set the class and the number of units.
- Design CCPP: net output and efficiency at design, hot and cold days (temperature, altitude and humidity corrections), monthly output and heat, annual GWh, gas flow (Nm³/h, mcm/y) and pressure, CO₂, NOx against the EU IED limit, water, land, CAPEX and LCOE, other configurations. Checks: hot-day derating, NOx, gas compressor, cold climate, seismic zone, water.
- Place layout adds GT / HRSG units, steam turbine hall, cooling, switchyard, gas station, control building, heat exchangers and the plant boundary to the project; Send to grid twin puts the plant on the grid digital twin (220 kV by default) for load flow and short circuit.
Generic gas-turbine class data, not vendor data; screening level. Vendor performance guarantees and a heat-balance study follow.
HVDC link
Energy → more → HVDC link. For long distances and sea crossings, e.g. from Whitewell NPP towards the EU grid.
- Pick a preset route — Whitewell → Thrace → Bulgaria (overhead) or Whitewell → Crete → Attica (subsea) — or add selected points one by one. Each leg is an overhead line, a subsea cable or a land cable; Detect sea legs and depth samples the elevation model, turns sea legs into cable and records the deepest point. The presets are illustrative routes, not actual projects.
- Enter the power, VSC or LCC, the configuration (auto: bipole for overhead lines, symmetric monopole for VSC cables) and the short-circuit power at both ends. The voltage is chosen from ±320 / 400 / 525 / 600 / 800 kV by power and technology, or set it.
- Design HVDC: DC current, overhead bundle per pole, cable size and number of systems, losses (line + converters), received power and annual energy, CAPEX, NPV of losses, the 400 kV AC alternative and the break-even distance.
- Checks: XLPE cables with LCC or above ±525 kV, cable rating, water depth (records ~2,150 m), largest loss of infeed (ENTSO-E reference incident 3,000 MW; a bipole keeps half in monopole operation), SCR at both converters (LCC ≥ 3, VSC ≥ ~1.5). The receiving end runs on the grid digital twin (converter as a generator on the 400 kV bus).
- Add to project puts the legs and both converter stations into the project; results go into the report and are saved with the project.
Indicative unit costs and typical cable / conductor data; screening level. A seabed survey, system studies and vendor offers follow.
Grid digital twin
Energy → more → Grid digital twin. One computable grid model of the project, shared by all studies.
- Make the design (PV / wind / BESS) and run the grid search (nearest substation, its voltage and distance). Press Build grid model from the project: grid substation (short-circuit power Sk) → connection line (type from the library, length = distance × 1.2, circuits sized by current) → plant transformer → MV busbar → PV / wind collectors (equivalent feeders) and the BESS. Plants up to 10 MW connect at MV.
- Adjust Sk, line type / length / circuits, PV, wind, BESS and the export limit, then Load flow + short circuit: AC load flow (Newton–Raphson) at full output and IEC 60909 short circuit (c = 1.1, inverter contribution counted conservatively at 1.2 × rated current). Checks: voltage band 0.95–1.05 pu, line / transformer loading (warning above 80 %), switchgear rating (25 kA MV, 31.5 kA up to 170 kV, 40–50 kA EHV), short-circuit ratio at the POI (below 3 = weak grid), losses, reactive capability. A single-line diagram shows voltages, kA and loadings.
- Hosting capacity: the largest generation the connection carries without a violation, and the element that limits it.
- 8760 h: an hourly year (solar shape scaled to the design's yield, wind series at its capacity factor) with a load flow every hour — generation, export, curtailment above the export limit, losses, BESS shifting of curtailed energy, hours with voltage or loading violations.
- Scenarios: base, without BESS, BESS 25 % × 2 h, BESS 50 % × 4 h, PV +50 % under the same export limit, and PV +50 % with BESS and a larger transformer — ranked by violations and indicative CAPEX per MWh exported. WAI Brain can run any matrix of variants.
- With a compute worker connected, pandapower cross-checks export and losses.
Typical catalogue values, screening level: BESS here only stores energy that would be curtailed (no price arbitrage). The grid operator's data (Sk, protection, existing load) and a full study in PowerFactory / PSS®E / pandapower follow. Results go into the report and are saved with the project.
Wind site search (country / region)
Energy → more → Wind site search.
- Type a country or region (e.g. "Croatia", "Konya") — or leave it empty, select a point and set a radius.
- Choose the hub height (default 120 m). WaiMAP places about 36 candidates inside the outline and reads the ERA5 100 m wind of the last full year at each one: mean speed at hub height, Weibull k, power density and the capacity factor of a modern 4–6 MW turbine (after losses).
- The best three areas are refined with a finer grid; the top five get the terrain slope and the distance to the nearest substation. Offshore points are left out unless you tick "offshore".
- Click a row (or a marker) to make it the selected point, then continue with the wind design and the energy yield.
Screening only: ERA5 (~30 km cells) smooths ridges and valleys, so the best ridge in a cell can be windier than shown. Confirm with a met mast or LiDAR year. Protected areas, settlements and radar / aviation constraints are checked later in the site report and the constraints step.
Detail drawings and existing CAD (place, review, export)
- Detail drawing: substation (plan + single line, N-1), tower (sag and ground clearance), pipeline / MV cable trench, road and railway sections, PV table (winter-noon shadow), turbine, BESS block, building, tank and station pads. Change the parameters on the right: the sheet redraws and the values are saved with the asset. Add a review note. Export SVG or print to PDF. "Typical details" shows every type with default values.
- Drawing in site coordinates: load the DXF; WaiMAP lists its layers and guesses the asset type of each (change it or skip a layer). Place it by hand (centre on the map, move, rotate, scale, unit mm / cm / m / ft) or enter two or more control points "x, y → lat, lng" — the RMS error is shown. "Place in the project" turns every element into an asset with an ID; asset IDs written as DXF text (e.g. "BESS-042 …") are kept. The layer button keeps the drawing as a reference under "My data" instead.
- Review: after Site intelligence, the clash check lists every asset that crosses a constraint (FAIL) or sits inside its setback (WARNING); click a row to go to the asset. "Compare old / new" shows unchanged, moved (green / amber), new and removed elements between two drawings or the project.
- Export: DXF with one layer per type and the asset IDs as text (UTM or TM 3°), Shapefile zip (points / lines / areas, WGS84, UTF-8 attributes), A3 PDF map sheet with legend, north arrow, scale bar and title block, GeoJSON, KML.
Engineering calculations and optimization
- Calculation register: every calculation is a CALC-numbered record: inputs (unit, source, confidence), results, limit checks, status (PASS / WARNING / FAIL / INCOMPLETE) and versions. The designer and the feasibility model record automatically.
- Out of date: when the design changes, the finance that depends on it is marked out of date; "Recalculate" re-runs only those, in order.
- Optimization: for a solar layout, GCR and tilt (and DC/AC when a grid limit is entered) are searched; every candidate goes through design + yield (tilt, row shading, clipping) + finance. Choose what matters most; compare scenarios A–E and the Pareto chart; apply one.
Site intelligence, project assets and the layer manager
- Site intelligence: Draw an area on the map (or pick one from CAD), choose the project type, press Analyse. Area, perimeter, elevation, slope classes and aspect; a colour constraint map (protected area, water, wetland, forest, steep slope, buildings, roads, railway, power lines, airports — each with the project type's buffer); gross → environmental → terrain → setbacks → potentially developable area.
- Potential uses: The same site is screened for solar, wind, BESS, industrial and residential (High / Medium / Low). Solar / wind resource is not in this score; it is computed in the Solar / Wind step.
- Nearby infrastructure: Substation, lines by voltage, main roads, railway, river, city, village, airport — distances from the site boundary. "+" adds the substation, line or road to the project as an asset.
- Constraint profile: Slope limit and buffers come from the project type; they are not regulations — adjust them to the country and project ("Apply" recalculates without downloading again).
- Project assets: Every CAD element gets a stable ID (SITE-001, SUB-003, TWR-087…). The ID survives save, share and export; numbers are never reused. Asset tree in the left panel; click to select and zoom.
- Layer manager: Layers grouped by theme (Environment, Land, Energy, Infrastructure, Hazards, Context); ★ favourites on top; ⋮ for zoom to layer, opacity, source / licence. "Smart layers" switch on the layers that matter for the project type in one click. Click a feature of an OSM layer and "Add to project" to make it an asset.
Resource & hazard atlas
- Map layers drawn by WaiMAP's calculation server from open global data (each shows its exact attribution while it is on): Global Solar Atlas 2.0 (GHI, DNI, GTI, PV output, optimum tilt, temperature), Global Wind Atlas 3 (power density and mean wind speed at 150 m), population density 2025 (GHS-POP R2023A, European Commission JRC; 0 persons/km² is transparent) and the river flood depth for the 100-year return period (JRC / Copernicus CEMS-GloFAS; blue classes 0.1–0.5, 0.5–1, 1–2, 2–4, > 4 m). All CC BY 4.0.
- Flood depth — how to read it: the source has no zero values, so inside the covered area an empty cell means not flooded at RP100; south of 60° S there is no data ("outside coverage"). The grid is ≈ 250 m (maximum of 3 × 3 cells of the ≈ 90 m source) and a point also shows the nearby maximum of the 3 × 3 cells around it (≈ 750 m). Large-river flooding only — no pluvial, flash or coastal flooding and no flood defences; the national flood map governs.
- Point report: card "Resource & hazard (atlas)" and PDF section 8a — wind speed 150 m, population density with its class (GHSL degree of urbanisation: ≥ 1,500 /km² urban centre, ≥ 300 urban cluster), flood depth with the semantics above.
- Where the values are used: Data Trust lists the Global Wind Atlas wind speed as a second wind source (amber when the ERA5-based mean at 150 m differs by more than 15 %, red above 30 %) and the flood depth as evidence; the stress test and ground & hazards use the RP100 depth at each element (depth > 0 → watch, > 0.5 m → fail for electrical equipment that is not raised above it; set
elevation_mon the element); site intelligence shows the population at the site and within 1 / 5 km (persons ≈ mean density × area) and the flood depth inside the site; the wind report prints the atlas wind speed next to its own mean. - Without the calculation server or its atlas files the layers say "not configured" and the analyses use their earlier sources.
Ground and natural hazards (route)
- Compute a corridor or draw / import a line in CAD. Pick the line, its type (transmission line / pipeline) and, for pipelines, the fluid.
- Enter the PGA from your national seismic map if you have it; otherwise the USGS catalogue and fault proximity are used.
- Assess: for every tower (every ~500 m of pipeline) the ground class (rock, dense sand / gravel, stiff / soft clay, saturated sand, peat / mud), Vs30 with the TBDY 2018 / EC8 class, and levels 0–3 for fault, earthquake, liquefaction, landslide, flood, wind / hurricane, ice, frost, avalanche and ground.
- Towers get a foundation type (pad & chimney, rock anchors, bored piles, driven / helical piles), a minimum depth and measures; pipelines get cover depth, rock trench, buoyancy control, HDD, fault-crossing design and slope measures.
- Red points need relocation (fault trace, high landslide risk, avalanche path, active floodway). WaiMAP tries positions along and across the line and shows the nearest acceptable one; if none is found the route has to change.
- Export CSV / GeoJSON, add avoid areas to CAD; the WAI report gets its own section. Brain tool: route_ground_hazards.
Excel exchange
- Download the template. Sheets Points (turbines, substations, control building, wells, towers…), Lines (power lines, pipelines, cables, roads — one row per vertex in Seq order) and Areas (site, parcel — one row per corner); drop-down lists included.
- Coordinates: Lat / Lng (WGS84) or Easting / Northing + CRS: UTM 37N, TM30…TM45 (ITRF96) or an EPSG code. Turkish headers are understood too.
- Load it: points, lines and areas appear under "My data" and work in the designer, earthworks and routing tools.
- Line → project: "Evaluate" a line from the Lines sheet as a fixed route: towers (yours if given), crossings, quantities. You can also draw a route by hand ("Draw").
- Export: layout (turbines, substation), field survey, route and towers, areas — a tidy Excel with WGS84 + UTM + TM3 coordinates.
Pipeline hydraulics
- Route the pipeline (A→B, from Excel or drawn by hand). The elevation profile of the selected route is used.
- Choose the fluid (water, crude, products, natural gas) and enter flow (m³/h, or MSm³/d for gas), inner diameter, MAOP and the minimum pressure.
- WaiMAP walks the pressure along the profile: liquids with Darcy–Weisbach (Swamee–Jain), gas with the General Flow equation (elevation-corrected). Where the pressure would fall below the minimum, a pump / compressor station is placed and its power estimated.
- Result: velocity, friction, stations (km, inlet pressure, head / ratio, kW), arrival pressure, points above MAOP on descents, and a profile chart with the pressure line. Stations appear on the map.
Equipment & existing plants
- PV module: pick a generic class (PERC, TOPCon bifacial, HJT 210R, CdTe) or load the NREL SAM / CEC module CSV. The module size and Wp go into the plant designer.
- Turbine: pick a turbine class or add your own: name, rotor Ø, hub height and the power curve (speed m/s, power kW — paste or load a CSV). The wind yield then uses your curve.
- Existing plants: "Find plants around" lists OSM power plants by source (MW where tagged), wind turbines and substations within 10 / 25 / 50 km. Load the WRI Global Power Plant Database CSV to merge it in.
- The plant summary goes into the WAI report and Brain can call it (
existing_plants).
WAI report
- Do the studies you need: plant design + yield + finance, grid, existing plants, routing, hydraulics, point analysis.
- Press WAI project report. A new window opens with the cover, KPI tiles and numbered sections: summary, site (WGS84 / UTM / TM3), resource with monthly chart, layout plan, technical design, CAPEX / OPEX, financial results with cash-flow and DSCR chart, sensitivities, grid, existing plants, route with plan and profile, hydraulics, risks, conclusions, assumptions register, QA and sources.
- "Print / save as PDF" gives the PDF. WaiSpace → My files → "Save the WAI report" saves it to your computer and remembers where.
WaiSpace
- Your files stay with you. WaiMAP does not store files; WaiSpace only remembers where each file is (folder, path, name, size, date, project) and opens it in one click.
- Folders (Chrome / Edge): link your project folder once; its files are listed and opened straight from the disk. The WAI report, Excel and settings sets are written into its "WaiMAP" sub-folder.
- My files: add files one by one. In browsers that cannot link folders you pick the file again to open it (name and size are checked). Excel, KML, GeoJSON, DXF go on the map; GeoTIFF opens as an orthophoto or a surface (DSM).
- The window: views on the left (All files, Recently opened, WaiMAP outputs, your other devices) and linked folders; search, type filter, sort and list / grid in the middle; the selected file's details, note and preview (CSV table, GeoJSON summary, image) on the right. Drag files onto the window to add them. Keys: / search, ↑↓ select, Enter open, Del remove from list, Esc close; ⛶ full screen.
- Projects: project data (drawings, inputs) is saved by code for team sharing; recent projects and reports / routes on this device.
- Templates: the Excel data template, the WAI report and your settings sets (saved to your computer as .settings.json).
Solar / wind pre-feasibility
- Pick the site: click the map or type coordinates in the GO box (decimal, DMS, UTM, TM 3°).
- Grid & constraints: find lines and substations within 15–30 km; enter buffers for buildings, roads, water and lines and build the constraint layer.
- Draw the site with the map tools or import KML/SHP (left panel → My data).
- Plant design: pick the site, enable PV and/or wind, set the target capacity and press "Design layout". Terrain slope and constraints are applied automatically.
- Energy yield: annual and monthly yield from PVGIS (solar) and ERA5 (wind).
- Finance & feasibility: check CAPEX, tariff and financing; IRR, NPV, LCOE, DSCR and P90 are computed. Download the feasibility PDF.
- Optionally open the 3D layout to see turbines and PV blocks on the terrain.
Construction progress with a drone
- Drone orthophotos: drop a GeoTIFF from WebODM, Pix4D, DJI Terra or Metashape. It is processed in the browser, not uploaded.
- Give each ortho its flight date. With two dates, use "swipe-compare" to see the change.
- Progress: items come from the design (turbines, PV, BESS, roads, cable…). Enter percentages, set plan start and end, take a snapshot.
- Optionally assess with WAI: WAI looks at the latest ortho and suggests; nothing changes until you press "Apply".
- Photo log: add phone photos; GPS, direction and date are read from the photo and placed on the map.
- On PV sites, zoom to the ortho and run PV defect screening; download the results as GeoJSON.
Buildable area of a plot
- In Turkey, "TKGM Parsel Sorgu" opens the parcel at the selected point; export it as KML/GeoJSON there. Spain and the Netherlands have cadastre layers in the left panel.
- Load the file with "Import parcel".
- Choose the front edge and enter setbacks (front / side / rear), coverage (TAKS) and FAR (KAKS), maximum height and storey height.
- Press "Compute buildable area". With a unit price, a rough value is computed too.
- Use Surroundings & access for distances to schools, hospitals and roads, and Compare plots for up to 4 plots side by side.
Field survey with a phone
- Open WaiMAP on the phone and start the Field GPS survey. Wait a few seconds in open sky.
- Press "Measure": readings are averaged and inaccurate ones are dropped. Name the point (e.g. WTG3).
- Share the session by code. On the desktop, "Open by code" → review the points in the separate window.
- With a known control point, apply a shift or Helmert correction.
- Compare with the design (as-built vs design offsets), build a polygon from corners, download GeoJSON/KML/CSV.
Blade / abnormal-load route check
- In Logistics, enter start and destination, choose the vehicle class and compute the route.
- In Blade / abnormal-load check, choose a load preset (60/70/80 m blade, tower, nacelle, transformer) or enter dimensions.
- Run the check: tight curves, steep grades, OSM limits, tunnels and bridges are marked on the map.
- Open the route profile for elevation; download the issue list as CSV.
Working without internet
- While online, zoom to the site.
- Left panel → Base map → "Save this area for offline". Map and terrain tiles are stored on the device.
- Without a connection the map, slope and earthworks still work. Measured points stay on the device and sync when you are back online.
Sharing a project
- Press Save in the project bar at the top of the right panel; the project gets a code.
- Share the code or link. Drawings, inputs, progress and photo thumbnails travel with the project.
- If two people save at once, you are asked which version to keep.
WAI Brain (W-ENG Map)
- Write the goal in your own words, e.g. "Design a 20 MWp solar plant around the selected point, connect it to the nearest 154 kV substation and summarise feasibility."
- Plan: WAI shows the steps first (scenario, tools, estimated cost). Approve plan, or type a correction and press Correct; WAI plans again.
- Question: when a critical choice is unclear (e.g. connection voltage) WAI does not guess; it asks with options. Your answer is written to the project card as a decision.
- Tools run in order, independent ones at the same time; plan steps are ticked off. Steps that spend credit, save to the server or download a file wait for your approval.
- W-ENG calculations (conductor selection, sag, cable size, pipe wall thickness) run in WAI and show as blue cards: standard, assumptions, limitations. They also go into the WAI report.
- WAI gives and checks the source (step and field) of every figure in the answer; a figure that does not match its source or appears in no result is flagged in yellow. Suggested next jobs appear as buttons.
- Preferences & project memory: you choose role, answer length, currency, country and standards region; the project card keeps decisions, open risks and previous results. Everything is visible and deletable; the card is saved with the project.
Your account — sign in once
Click the person icon and type your e-mail. We send a 6-digit code (no password). After that WaiMAP stays signed in on this device; use Sign out everywhere if a device is lost. Sign in with your company e-mail and you join your company's subscription automatically while it has free seats.
Account type (sign-in sheet or account sheet) decides the financial chapter of your reports: EPC contractor (schedule, cash flow); Investor / developer (IRR, NPV); Public owner (budget, schedule); Design office / engineering consultancy, Owner's engineer / technical advisor and Academic / student (schedule and cost); Operator / O&M (O&M cost by year, overhauls); Lender / bank (IRR / NPV with debt service, DSCR and LLCR); Other (a short description of up to 60 characters; schedule and cost).
My reports are in WaiSpace → WaiMAP → My reports (also under WaiMAP outputs): title, type, serial, date and verification status (Not verified / Requested / Active until … / Expired). Open the verification page, add the verification QR (Pro and above) or, once active, download the verified report. The verified file is re-rendered from the report open in the tab: if it is not open any more, use Re-open the report generator, download the report once, then Download verified report. Hide title hides the title on the public page. My reports is open on every plan, including Free.
Get the app: the App button installs WaiMAP on Windows / Mac (Chrome or Edge), Android (Chrome → Install app) and iPhone / iPad (Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen). It opens like an app and updates by itself.
Masterplan engineering dossier
Real estate → Masterplan: choose the site (point + area, draw, coordinates, Excel / CSV corners or a CAD boundary), generate the plan, then Engineering dossier. It covers roads with cross-sections, the utilities (water, wastewater, stormwater by the rational method, power, cooling, telecom, waste), earthworks from the terrain model, phasing, BoQ and cost, risks and a block-by-block schedule with CSV / GeoJSON / KML.
Project layers (top right of the map): show all results, only the current tool's, or the ones you tick; clear old results.
Reference twin and Excel
Real estate → Reference twin copies a real district (buildings, streets, parks from OpenStreetMap) onto a new site and engineers it. The coordinate Excel lists every building with its centroid and every corner in WGS84 and UTM, plus the streets, program, BoQ and cash flow. Every dossier has an Excel download in its last appendix.
Financials: the account type in your account sheet decides the financial appendix. An EPC contractor gets the schedule and cash flow, an investor gets IRR and NPV, a public owner gets the budget.
Share: "Share / gallery" next to a dossier gives you a private link; after review it also appears in the gallery on the WaiMAP website (globe button).
Budget Engine (Project Brain → CAPEX)
Every Project Brain project gets a budget built from a dated, sourced benchmark (or a WaiMAP assumption, clearly labelled), the location (only the local part — labour, local materials — is adjusted; traded equipment is not), escalation to the base year and economy of scale. Lines: EPC by WBS package, grid / utility connection, land, owner's costs, contingency by estimate class, escalation during construction and financing (investor view). Cities and resorts price buildings separately from infrastructure.
- Collect: add a quote, your own value, a Data Room or library value for a WBS package (any currency and year). It replaces the benchmark for that package; 30 % covered → class 4, 70 % → class 3.
- Check: benchmark band, reference project (e.g. Hinkley Point C), source quality, benchmark age, bottom-up BOQ × unit rates, arithmetic, WBS, contingency vs class, scale, scope, market warnings, cross-border.
- Control: in construction, enter committed, spent and progress per package → earned value, CPI, estimate at completion and variance.
- Settings: investor or EPC-contractor view, country, class, escalation and financing rate. The budget goes into the report and the Excel (Budget, WBS, BOQ check, checks, sources).
Report style: Project Brain → Report → Engineering mono uses the Paper Mono typeface (SIL Open Font License 1.1, by the Paper team) for headings, figures and tables.
New project (Projects button)
The project button opens Projects → What would you like to do?: create a new project, describe it in your own words, copy an existing project, revise one, continue one, or import (share code or files).
- Create: write what WaiMAP should do and press Read my description. Type, capacity, place or route, reference, stage and objectives are filled in for you to check. Then set the location (search, map centre, drawn boundary / route, coordinates) and the initial information (upload files, enter manually, or later). Advanced settings holds the type-specific parameters, data sources, intelligence modules (WAI automatic or your own choice), automation and its frequency, team and permissions, objectives and outputs.
- WAI project understanding: what WaiMAP understood, what is available, what is missing, the project plan, the scope and the studies still needed. Choose RUN WAI (project + folder + Project Brain), Review / edit, or Continue manually (project + folder, the matching mode opens).
- Project folder: 00_Project_Initial (information, request, status, version + your files) … 10_Versions. It is written to your linked WaiSpace folder (WaiMAP/Projects/…), or downloaded as one zip.
- Copy: one of your projects, a sample or a reference project, at a new place, scale (or target capacity) and rotation. The original stays where it is; both are shown on the map.
- Existing project: continue, revision, update data (new files: run / review first / add only), new analysis, alternatives, new report, monitoring. A revision ("500 MW to 750 MW") lists the detected changes, what must be re-analysed and what does not change, then saves a new version (V1.1; a major change gives V2.0).
- Scheduled automation: with a daily / weekly / monthly frequency, opening the project offers the run when it is due.
Describe your project
Write the project in your own words, e.g. "300 MW / 1,200 MWh BESS near Riyadh, no reference", "Abqaiq – Ceyhan oil pipeline, corridor 5 km", or "a Las Vegas-like city for 100,000 people in Konya, rotate 35°". You can also upload an Excel file with coordinates; any column names are fine. WaiMAP shows a PROJECT DETECTED panel and a draft on the map. Correct what you need, then press Approve & Build. Nothing is built before you approve.
Themes and the top bar
Settings (gear, or ☰ → Settings) → Theme. Every theme keeps text readable (WCAG AA contrast, checked automatically in every release); your choice is remembered in this browser.
- Midnight (default) — dark navy, sky-blue and amber accents.
- Paper — warm cream background, soft white panels, dark warm-grey text, clay accent. Calm and low-glare for long sessions.
- Dusk — warm charcoal with off-white text and a clay accent; easy on the eyes in the evening.
- Sage — soft grey-green with deep slate-green text and a teal-green accent.
- Enterprise, Pearl, Clarity — light themes; Ocean, Forest, Sunset, WHT, Neon Grid — dark themes.
On narrow windows (or when zoomed in) the less used top-bar buttons — Website, App, project sites, Ask WAI, 3D, settings — move into the ☰ menu; Sign up / account and ☰ always stay visible.
Project Brain and the 16 sample projects
Explore → more → Project Brain. Pick one of the 16 samples, or select a point / draw an area or a line in CAD and press Analyse. Every project gets the same menu: Overview, Location, Map, Terrain, Environment, Climate, Hazards, Infrastructure, Engineering, Construction, BoQ, CAPEX, Schedule, HSE, QA/QC, Risks, WAI analysis, Observations, Preview, Report.
Preview plays a 13-step film in 8 languages. Record + Save Preview keeps it in WaiSpace. In WaiSpace → WaiMAP samples, Download video records a sample's preview exactly as it plays and saves it as a 1080p video; pick "This tab" when the browser asks.
WaiMAP Atlas, regional data and large files
WaiMAP Atlas layers are computed by WaiMAP from open atlas data and show their inputs. WaiMAP Solar Suitability (score 0–100): PV output (Global Solar Atlas PVOUT) 40 %, river flood depth RP100 (JRC) 20 %, built-up share 2025 (GHS-BUILT-S) 15 %, population 2025 (GHS-POP) 15 %, terrain slope 10 % where your project has a terrain patch. Part scores: PVOUT 900 → 0 … 1,900 kWh/kWp/yr → 100; flood 0 m → 100 … 1 m → 0; built-up 0 % → 100 … 30 % → 0; population ≤ 50 /km² → 100 … 1,500 /km² → 0; slope ≤ 5 % → 100 … 20 % → 0. Flood deeper than 0.5 m caps the score at 30, built-up of 50 % or more at 20. A missing input is left out and the weights are re-normalised — the point value says which inputs were used. WaiMAP Urban Growth shows the change of the built-up share between two GHS-BUILT-S epochs (2000 → 2025 by default) and gives the built-up area added and the change in %. Both are screening layers, licensed CC BY 4.0 from their sources and processed by WaiMAP.
Regional data (☰ → Work): add your own georeferenced GeoTIFF / COG (drone orthophoto, DEM, measurement grid) or fetch Copernicus DEM GLO-30 and ESA WorldCover 2021 for an area. The data belongs to the project, is drawn only inside its footprint and is used first by the analyses there ("user / project data used in this area").
Large files are sent in 8 MB pieces straight to WaiMAP's calculation server, checked piece by piece and resumed after a broken connection or a reload (choose the same file again). Limits per file: Personal 50 MB, Pro 500 MB, Team 2 GB, Business 5 GB, Enterprise 20 GB.
Exported map images and report figures carry a small mark "WaiMAP - Spatial Intelligence · date (UTC) · centre" next to the map attribution.

Sign up and buy online — anyone, any e-mail address. Anyone can sign up with any e-mail address and buy online. Company plans can add colleagues by e-mail.
- Sign up: type your e-mail (personal — gmail, hotmail, outlook … — or company) and the 6-digit code we send you. No password. Throw-away inbox services are not accepted.
- Buy: press Subscribe on a plan (plans sheet, pricing page, home page, or an upgrade dialog). If you are not signed in yet, the sign-in opens first and the purchase continues by itself afterwards.
- Confirm: one step shows the plan, users, monthly or yearly billing, the total in USD excl. VAT and the renewal (automatic until you cancel). Tick I accept the Terms and the Privacy notice, then Continue to secure checkout — payment runs on your WAI account (Stripe); WaiMAP never sees card details. You come back to the same page.
- WAI account: it is created with your first purchase. Before that, AI features say "Your WAI account is created with your first purchase — subscribe or open WAI".
- Company e-mail: a company domain joins its company plan automatically while seats are free; public mail services never join a company plan — a company admin adds colleagues by e-mail.
Developers & partners — Build on WaiMAP: MCP API (Business and above), wm-Digamma extensions (Team and above), public report verification lookup, shared layer catalogue. Partners find their own customers; partner work is kept separate from members' projects; no access to members' data. See the developer page.
WAI assistant
- Press the robot icon in the top bar and Connect with your wht-ai.com account. Usage is counted in Woken; in a period, WAI use may not exceed 25 % of what the account paid for it.
- Ask questions: WAI answers only from the data on screen and does not invent values.
- Ask it to do something — "find the best wind site in Croatia", "design a 50 MW solar plant here", "route from A to B" — and the chat hands the task to WAI Brain, which runs WaiMAP's engines (approve the plan in the Brain panel when asked) and posts the result back in the chat. When WAI says the data is not on screen, press Do it with WAI Brain.
- Image analysis (PV defects, progress) lives inside the orthophoto and photo tools.
